How to Learn About School Funding

School funding for 2011-12 is anything but certain. Davis voters will have a chance to levy a new parcel tax to support schools on May 3. State voters may have a chance in June to extend certain sales taxes that would help avoid deeper cuts in education.

The Davis Joint Unified School District must prepare for the worst, and that means issuing pink slips to employees.
We encourage everyone to follow the developments. Here are some ways to do so:
  • Attend Board of Education meetings. They’re the first and third Thursday of the month at 7 pm in the Davis Community Chambers, 23 Russell Blvd.
  • Watch board meeting live or in replay at djusd.tv.
  • Follow the situation by reading the Davis Enterprise and local blogs, the Davis Voice and the Vanguard.
  • Study the facts about district finances at districtdollars.org or  djusd.net.
  • Follow DSF on Facebook.
